So as you know, I stopped writing lengthy reviews on this site this year, keeping the blog as more of a film diary of sorts.  Lo and behold,...

Coming Attractions - Scary Movie Edition

Shutter Island

I've actually never looked forward to a Scorsese movie before, but I'm kinda digging the ghost vibe here. Plus, I'm a big Emily Mortimer fan, so that's a plus, and Patricia Clarkson and Ben Kinglsey are just added bonuses.

The Final Destination

This is The Final Destination (although, we all know that although that article kind of makes it sound like it's the last of the series, you can bet that it won't be)...yes, I know it'll be awful, but I moderately enjoyed this series, despite its utter ridiculousness...

Orphan

There's something wrong with Esther...sure, it looks like a remake of the Macaulay Culkin "classic" The Good Son, but I'm itching to see this one...

  1. I've looked forward to Shutter Island ever since I read that it was Leo and Scorsese again. Leo is quickly becoming my favorite actors and Scorsese is probably one of my favorite directors. Add Emily Mortimer into the mix and I'm in the seat. The only thing I didn't like about the trailer is that it essentially just shows the entire movie.

Final Destination is something I'm actually looking foward to. It's something that should completely be in 3D. One complaint, same as the last: it gave too much away.

Orphan honestly looks pretty damn lame but I do like Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard a lot though.

  2. Response:

Shutter Island: I agree about Leo actually impressing as of late. I couldn't remember whether it was you or Thomas that liked Emily Mortimer, but apparently it was you...I like her quite a bit as well. I agree that the trailer reveals a little too much.

Final Destination: It'll be awful...but I'll watch it. I'd much rather watch that than My Bloody Valentine in 3D.

Orphan: The two people you listed are the reasons I really want to see this one. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll be great, but I think the trailers have been fairly decent. Plus, the fact that it's rated R probably helps this movie.

  3. Look forward to seeing all three, even if they suck a little. See you at the movies! :-)

  4. Sheri/Tom's Mom -

I agree that none of them look spectacular, but every now and then, I just want to see unpretentious fluff! (See Drag Me To Hell for a perfect example of that.)

Nice to have met you last night, by the way! [And thanks for posting!]

  5. Jeff you've known me since we were little :-) I see you thinking... Sheri who?, you'll figure it out.

Someone else suggested Drag Me to Hell but I haven't seen it yet. I think I missed my chance in theaters. Looking forward to seeing Public Enemy tomorrow...don't bad mouth it till after I see it.

Oh and PS I should now post on your "they called me a dad at the most fabulous place on earth" and say you just called me a mom and I'm not lol

  6. Sheri from Caravel! Hey, there! Sorry for the mix-up...a buddy's mom who I met for the first time last night is named Sheri and I just made an assumption.

It's weird to me that anyone's reading this thing in the first place.

I'm seeing Public Enemies on Wednesday night (I think), so I won't bad mouth it yet...

Thanks for reading! And I'll see you around the theater...
