Letterboxd Reviews

So as you know, I stopped writing lengthy reviews on this site this year, keeping the blog as more of a film diary of sorts.  Lo and behold,...

Coming Attractions

Nothing really exciting in this batch. I'm only posting the latter two of these because some of us discussed them during a recent journey to Philadelphia. The first one's getting posted because I'm sure they're gonna push it to be an Oscar contender.

Brothers

I'm all for the return of Natalie Portman and I'm okay with Jake Gyllenhaal, too. But this just kind of looks silly.

The Collector - Red Band Trailer - NSFW

Despite the fact that I've never seen a single Saw movie all the way through, I'm vaguely interested in this. I'm not sure why...

Deadgirl - NSFW

I'm posting this because "Anonymous" talked about it after her trek up to NYC to see her favorite movie of all time, Newsies. This looks quite different from that. The premise sounds more interesting to me than the trailer, though. This is one movie that I'll never see, though, as we'll never get it anywhere around here since it features no stars.

Coming Attractions - Scary Movie Edition

Shutter Island

I've actually never looked forward to a Scorsese movie before, but I'm kinda digging the ghost vibe here. Plus, I'm a big Emily Mortimer fan, so that's a plus, and Patricia Clarkson and Ben Kinglsey are just added bonuses.

The Final Destination

This is The Final Destination (although, we all know that although that article kind of makes it sound like it's the last of the series, you can bet that it won't be)...yes, I know it'll be awful, but I moderately enjoyed this series, despite its utter ridiculousness...

Orphan

There's something wrong with Esther...sure, it looks like a remake of the Macaulay Culkin "classic" The Good Son, but I'm itching to see this one...

Coming Attractions...Addendum...

I posted my previous coming attractions post a day too soon...here's one of my most anticipated movies of the year...

The Road

I can't wait...Viggo should've won an Oscar for the underwatched Eastern Promises...this was quite a book...looks like it could be quite a movie...

Coming Attractions

Nine

Daniel Day Lewis proved he's an impressive actor in There Will Be Blood, so the fact that he's trying his hand at a musical is interesting to me. I'll try to forget the fact that Fergie (from the Black Eyed Peas) and Kate Hudson are in it...

Precious

Mo'nique is already getting Oscar buzz for this one. I didn't even realize that was Mariah Carey at first. Looks like it may be able to rise above the typical urban drama.

The Princess and the Frog

I don't really even want to think about this at the moment. I'm thrilled beyond belief that hand-drawn animation is back, but I don't know about this one...

Coming Attractions

A look at some upcoming movies...

Up

Best movie of the summer? Best movie of the year? I don't know...I'm not getting the Wall*E excellence vibe from this one. If I lower the expectations, I know I'll like it more...

Star Trek

I wouldn't call myself a big Star Trek fan, but I definitely remember watching Star Trek: The Next Generation on Sunday nights when I was little...that would be the John-Luc Picard/Worf era...Nevertheless, this trailer looks quite good. J.J Abrams is a favorite of mine, so I'm hoping he succeeds with this one.

Terminator: Salvation

I'm the only person I know that actually liked the third Terminator movie (I didn't love it, but I liked it). I'm looking forward to this one, too. The addition of Christian Bale definitely adds something positive in the actor department. The trailer looks like your typical generic action movie trailer, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for a movie like this.

500 Days of Summer

A perfect antidote to regular summer fare. Some really funny lines in this trailer. Plus, it uses a Hall and Oates song! Long live Hall and Oates!
