So as you know, I stopped writing lengthy reviews on this site this year, keeping the blog as more of a film diary of sorts.  Lo and behold,...

The 2011 RyMickey Awards -- Best Poster

Some nice posters this year, but, if I'm being honest, only one would find its place hanging in a room in my house if I had my druthers.

Best Posters of 2011

Honorable Mentions

And onto the Top Ten...

#10
Yes, this poster screams "Movie Star," but it's so simplistic that it works without being too in your face. Yes, Brad Pitt is the star, but he's a normal guy in this and the poster somehow conveys that to me.

Find out the rest of the list after the jump...

#9
Simply because it's unlike most of what we see out there in terms of poster artwork.

#8
It really is a lovely and whimsical poster that I'd imagine is exactly what Woody Allen was going for with his film.

#7
Simple, I know...but it conveys exactly what is needed and dares to not place its famous actors front and center (even if this is just a teaser poster)

#6
I was always kind of indifferent to Winnie the Pooh, but this poster hinted at the childlike happiness that was to come from the charming animated film.  The oven mitt on Pooh's head kinda seals the deal for me.

#5
Rather haunting and hinted (correctly) at a sad film.  I didn't notice until I was prepping this list the planets in the upper righthand side...nice touch by the poster designer considering the plot of this film.

#4
The poster tells us with its dark hues that we aren't in for a pleasant experience...there's a definite Rosemary's Baby vibe kicking up and it's certainly apropos.

#3
When you have to give a second glance to a poster, I can't help but think it's done its job.  I had to give a second glance at this one to see the dueling images and it's a really solid poster for an unfortunately lackluster film.

#2
Just cool imagery with the two different faces of our main character who is herself living a fractured life.  And adding her cult leader captor ominously in the background is a nice touch.

#1
Joy.
